Contentment in Stormy Times

Contentment is easily found when life is calm and smooth. Unfortunately, when life gets a bit stormy content is often the last way we feel.

Paul tells us that even when life is rough we can learn to be content.

Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

And Paul had his share of stormy times:  2 Corinthians 11:24 – 27   24 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. 25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; 26 In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; 27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

Paul’s secret to contentment: Philippians 4:13 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Let us put our faith in Jesus Christ and He will provide us the strength to ride out the rough times.

Thought of the Week:

Matthew 5:14-16

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a [f]hill cannot be hidden;15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a [g]basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven
